Domain specification .info

I had recently come across .info type of domain names and I wonder which type of sites use .info domain names. Further .info domains are really cheap when compared with .com domains.

Info domains are for informational type of websites. They've had some problems in the past but are on a little bit of a rise, from what I've read. Actually, from what I've seen, too. Like you, I'm running across more of these domains lately that do indeed have some valuable information on them.

Most .info sites are informational sites but it is not limited for that purpose only. It can be used for any type of site because it was created to ease the pressure on .com sites.

If all other extensions such as .com, .net, and .org are taken, you might want to consider taking the .info domain. Google and other search engine are not bias to any extensions just as long you post relevant and non spammy contents on your website.
