My forum was hacked for the first time yesterday :cry: Ive got it fixed for now and changed hosts because apparently it was my server. It was my first hack so it was a bit scary :lol: You ever been hacked?

Nah I didn't do it myself. I used a theme from the SMF site and just made a few small changes. I held a logo contest on DP for my logo and that one was the winner! I haven't managed to teach myself the advanced stuff yet :) Thanks for the new off.gif! Ive changed it now! :D

Ive just started doing this to help promote my website. Its not hard and doesn't really feel like work so its great! :lol: Does anyone else use this as a promotion method?.

The first forum I ever had was a lot of work for me. It took me forever to get members, I spent ages changing the design and making it look good. Finally when it was starting to get rolling something happened with my host and I lost everything. And I had no backup! :o So I have learned...

Yeah it is a great way to learn. Things don't sink in for me if someone shows me. I have to do it myself and explain things in MY terms :D

I use SMF on mine. I reckon they have a great range of free mods and themes! ;)

Nah I didn't really try very hard. Before I started I didn't even know what a domain was and just got started into making sites to kill the boredom from being sick. I managed to teach myself a lot in 8 months so I guess it was worth it! :D

Do you have a set of rules at your forum apart from the generic ones that come with the software? I tried to write some and it was harder than I thought. I had a mental blank and could only really think of " Be Nice" :lol: What are the most important things you would list as rules?

I think the site looks great. Very neat and easy to read. Cant wait to watch it grow!

Ive only got the one now. I used to have 4 but that was when I was off work sick for 8 months. Now I'm back at work 60 hours a week I just wanted the one to play around with. :)

And if you "absolutely" need a lot of categories right from the start try to keep a few main ones and make the rest childboards to neaten it up. :)
